Groove Music Pass
Groove Music Pass was a paid subscription service by Microsoft, where users could listen to the subscribed music. Users could use any device to install the service. Last year, on October 2, 2017, Microsoft announced that the Groove Music Pass service will be discontinued effective December 31, 2017. Around the same time, Microsoft started promoting Spotify as an alternative to the Groove Music Pass, where saved playlists can be migrated from Groove Music to Spotify.
How to shift saved playlists from Groove Music to Spotify
It is quite easy to shift your playlists from Groom Music to Spotify. Microsoft started this migration process from October 9, 2017.
If you have Groove Music app on your Windows 10 device, first check if it is an updated version of Groove Music. If not, download the updated version of the app from Microsoft Store.
Launch the app on your Windows 10 machine.
Since you have a subscription to Groove Music, your Playlist will be visible in the app.
At the bottom of the left-hand side menu bar, you will find the tab that leads to Spotify. Clicking on this tab ‘Get Spotify, you will be taken to the window where you can download Spotify.
After launching Spotify, you need to sign up with Spotify. Follow the on-screen steps to create a Spotify Free account or log in to an existing Spotify account.
Then transfer your music to it.
If you are creating the Spotify account for the first time, you will be eligible for the Spotify Free service. Once you’ve transferred your Groove Music collection to Spotify, you’ll automatically receive a 60-day free trial for Spotify Premium when you upgrade.
Important Note:
Users must remember that Groove Music Pass subscription won’t automatically transfer over to Spotify. To convert a monthly Groove Music Pass subscription to a Spotify Premium subscription, users first need to transfer their Groove Music collection to a new or existing Spotify account.
